Bifold panels have to fold, stack, and seal.
Getting all three right takes experience.
Level Track & Pivot Calibration
We set the overhead track level and calibrate each pivot point before the panels hang, so every fold is smooth and every panel aligns correctly from the first day of use.
In-House Crews. Never Subcontracted.
Every installer on your job works for Woodruff directly. Our lead crew member has been with us since 1997. The same standard applies regardless of project size or season.
Full Perimeter Trim & Cleanup
Interior casing, exterior trim, and threshold work are fitted and paint-matched to your home. We test the full fold sequence and verify the locking hardware before cleaning up and leaving.
Explore Bifold Door Installation
Discover what makes a bifold door system the most practical wide-opening solution for McKinney homes with covered patios and outdoor living spaces.
Panels that fold, stack, and stay out of the way.
Accordion-Style Panel Folding
Panels are hinged together in pairs and fold accordion-style toward one or both sides of the opening. When fully open, the folded panels stack compactly at the edge of the frame, leaving the majority of the wall width clear.
Top-Hung Track System
Panels hang from an overhead track and pivot on top and bottom hardware, keeping the floor free of a bottom rail and allowing a low-profile or flush threshold that eliminates the trip hazard of older patio door systems.
Flexible Opening Configurations
Bifold systems can be configured to stack left, stack right, or split and stack to both sides simultaneously, depending on your wall layout and how you want the opening to work. We’ll specify the right configuration for your space during the consultation.
Wide glass panels in a Texas climate need serious thermal protection
Cardinal Lodz-366 Low-E Glass
Triple-silver-coated Low-E glass blocks 95% of UV rays across every panel, keeping the full folding glass wall from overheating the room it faces during McKinney’s peak summer months.
Thermally Broken Frame Profiles
Aluminum frames include a thermal break between interior and exterior surfaces, preventing the frame from conducting heat into the home independently of the glass when the system is closed.
Panel-to-Panel Compression Seals
Where panels meet each other in the closed position, compression seals engage along the full panel height, maintaining a consistent weather barrier across the entire system width rather than relying on pile weatherstripping that degrades over time.
Hardware that folds and locks thousands of times without failing
Pivot & Hinge System
Top pivot hardware and mid-panel hinges are the mechanical core of every bifold system. We specify hardware rated for the panel weight and expected cycle count, with adjustment points that allow fine-tuning without removing the panel.
Multi-Point End Panel Lock
The end panel anchors the full closed system with a multi-point lock that engages at the top and bottom of the frame, compressing the perimeter seal and securing the assembly against forced entry.
Flush-Pull Handles
Recessed flush-pull handles allow one-hand panel operation and sit flush with the panel face when the system is closed, with no protruding hardware to catch screens or furnishings during the fold sequence.
Glass that performs across every panel in the fold
Tempered Safety Glass
Tempered glass is standard on all bifold door panels by code. The combination of large glass panels and daily mechanical movement makes it the only appropriate specification.
Low-Iron Ultra-Clear Glass
Standard glass has a noticeable green tint across multiple large panels. Low-iron glass removes it entirely, giving you a cleaner, truer view of the outdoor space the bifold system is designed to connect you to.
Acoustic Laminated Glass
For homes near busy streets or neighborhood common areas, laminated acoustic glass rated up to STC 34 keeps the system thermally and acoustically tight when closed, regardless of what’s happening outside.
Brands built for the mechanical demands of daily folding.
We install bifold door systems from vetted manufacturer partners whose pivot hardware, hinge systems, and panel tolerances we’ve evaluated specifically for North Texas conditions. Bifold doors cycle more than any other door type, and the hardware has to be rated for it. Every system we install carries a manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty backed by our own workmanship guarantee.
BIFOLD DOOR SPECS & PERFORMANCE

What a bifold door changes about how you use the space behind it
Homeowners in Painted Tree and Trinity Falls describe it the same way: the outdoor space stops being a destination and starts being an extension. Gatherings flow naturally between the two areas. The indoor space feels larger. The outdoor space gets used more often. Here’s the measurable side of that experience.
Up to 80% of the wall width clear when fully open, compared to the 50% maximum of a standard two-panel sliding patio door in the same rough opening.
Consistent thermal performance when closed, with Cardinal Lodz-366 Low-E glass blocking 95% of UV rays and panel-to-panel compression seals maintaining a weather-tight closure across the full system.
Individual panel operation that lets you open one section for a morning breeze or the full wall for an evening gathering, with no single fixed mode.
*Opening width comparison based on standard two-panel patio door versus four-panel bifold system in equivalent rough opening. Thermal performance estimates based on NFRC-certified data. Ask your Woodruff consultant for site-specific recommendations.

Stack left, stack right, or split down the middle. The opening works around your layout.
Stack left, stack right, or split to both sides. For homes in Stonebridge Ranch and Craig Ranch where the covered patio runs the full width of the back of the house, that flexibility lets the door work with the architecture rather than against it.
Open the wall and let the two spaces become one.
A bifold door earns its cost most visibly on the evenings when it’s fully open. Food moves between the kitchen and the outdoor kitchen without a door in the way. Conversation carries across the threshold without anyone raising their voice. The covered patio in Tucker Hill or Adriatica stops being outside the party and starts being part of it.

How is a bifold door different from a multi-panel sliding door?
On a sliding system, panels move horizontally along a track and overlap one another when open, so a portion of the wall is still covered. On a bifold system, panels are hinged together and fold accordion-style to the side, stacking compactly at the edge of the frame. Bifold doors typically open more of the wall than a comparable sliding system and don’t require a dedicated stacking pocket like a true stacking door. They’re also slightly more mechanically complex given the pivot hardware, but that complexity is well-managed by quality hardware on a well-installed system.
How much does bifold door installation cost in McKinney?
Most of our McKinney bifold projects land between $4,000 and $13,000 depending on panel count, frame material, and glass package. That covers the full Woodruff installation: track, panels, threshold, trim, and cleanup. Larger systems and custom configurations are quoted individually. Every quote is written and comes with zero obligation.
How many panels does a bifold door system need?
Most residential bifold systems run three to six panels. The right number depends on your opening width and how much of the wall you want to clear when the system is fully open. Narrower openings typically use three or four panels. Wider openings move to five or six. We’ll walk through the panel count options and the visual result of each during your consultation.
How long does bifold door installation take?
Most bifold installations are completed in one to two days on site. Systems with five or more panels or those requiring structural header work may extend to three days. We’ll give you a specific timeline during the consultation and confirm the schedule before we arrive.
Open most of the wall. Keep all of the view.
Bifold doors deliver more opening than a standard patio door and more simplicity than a stacking system. For McKinney homeowners building out a serious outdoor living space, that’s usually the right balance. Family-owned since 1982. In-house crews. No subcontractors. No surprises.
